An international Christian colportage conference, organized by the Peruvian Union at the IMS under the motto “Be a Torch”, will be held from August 12 to September 1, 2024, in the town of Chancay, Peru, Pastor Gustavo Castellanos, Leader of the Canvassing Department at the General Conference of the IMS, announced in a video appeal on Facebook today, on Sabbath, August 10, 2024: https://www.facebook.com/share/r/KP76WwbLpnzmp4Vu/.

The international conference will be a chance for young people to be prepared “as good stewards of the manifold grace of God” (1 Peter 4:10) and to be faithful coworkers of Christ in the Christian book canvassing work.

Founded in 1562 under the name of Villa de Arnedo, Chancay is a small city with a population of 63,378 inhabitants, located 78 km (48 mi) north of Peru’s capital Lima. The main activity in Chancay today is as a tourist resort for nearby Lima, while the main attraction is El Castillo, a faux castle, recently repaired but constructed in the nineteenth century, including a small museum   displaying Chancay culture pottery and mummies, a pre-Columbian archaeological culture, later part of the Inca Empire.
